Pieter Mulier will make his Versace debut with haute couture, not ready-to-wear. In a short statement shared with WWD on 28 October 2026, the Italian house confirmed that Atelier Versace, its couture line, will show the Belgian designer's first collection during Paris Couture Week in January. The date and venue "will be announced in due course", Versace said.
Paris Couture Week runs from 25 to 28 January 2027, WWD reports.
Couture back on the runway
It is also a comeback for Atelier Versace itself. According to WWD, the line has not staged its own runway show since July 2016. In the years since, it stayed active through private client orders and red carpet dresses.
Mulier officially started at Versace on 1 July, WWD notes. He has already given a first glimpse of his couture: Nicole Kidman wore an asymmetric black lace Atelier Versace gown at the Los Angeles premiere of "Practical Magic 2" on 31 August.
FashionNetwork recalls that Mulier made his name reviving Alaïa, after earlier years alongside Raf Simons at Jil Sander, Dior and Calvin Klein.
A new owner's first big statement
The show will be the first clear sign of where Versace is heading under the Prada Group, which bought the house from Capri Holdings. FashionNetwork puts the deal at an enterprise value of €1.25 billion and reports that Versace's executive chairman, Lorenzo Bertelli, had hinted for months that couture would return. When the group reported its nine-month figures, chief executive Andrea Guerra said the integration was heading "in the proper direction", WWD reports, and that the team was already looking at products rather than just ideas.
Why it matters
For Belgian fashion, January now has a headline act: another Belgian designer taking over one of Europe's best-known houses, and starting at the very top of the market. Couture shows often set the mood for evening dressing a season later. If you like the idea of black lace for party season, our guide to dark romance in lace and velvet shows how to wear it now.
